“Give us today our daily bread.” — Matthew 6:11 (NIV)
As moms, we often carry the invisible weight of feeding our families — planning meals, grocery shopping, prepping, and making sure there’s something (hopefully healthy) on the table. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind and feel like it’s never enough, or that it never ends.
But God reminds us that even in the kitchen, He is present. When Jesus taught us to pray, He included the simplest of needs: daily bread. He didn’t ask for a week’s worth, or a month’s meal plan — just what was needed for today.
What if we approached our family’s meals not with pressure to be perfect, but with prayer and presence? Each bite shared around your table is an opportunity to nourish not just the body, but the heart. It’s not about gourmet meals — it’s about connection, peace and love.
So as you plan your grocery list or stand over the stove again, remember: you are doing holy work. God is in the little things — even the peanut butter sandwiches and cereal dinners.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being my Provider. Help me not to be overwhelmed by the planning and preparing, but to trust You with each day’s needs. Let me find joy in feeding my family and see it as a reflection of Your constant care. Amen.
