God Loves Fun

Why Is Fun Hard?

Why is it so hard for me to stop working and just have fun? Could it be that us moms are so busy and our work is never really done? Maybe I am trying to control the situation. There is so much to worry about. Is it possible that I cannot relax and just enjoy the moment?

Kids Know the Secret

Young children see life through a different lens. Kids instinctively know that the little things in life are important. They notice the bug on a leaf. They give hugs. They love. They live in the moment without a worry about the future. Sadly, as they get older, they lose this ability.

Love People

Jesus’s main assignment on earth was to love people. Sometimes that meant teaching them, or serving them. Other times it meant just hanging out, enjoying dinner with friends and celebrating with family. These fun times weren’t empty of significance. Rather they were filled with value as Jesus showed love in a significant way and His message is clear: Love God. Love people.

John 15:11-12 “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

5 Ways to Have More Fun

  1. Be intentional about having fun. – Put it on your calendar. Start small with just 20 minutes a day and then build on that.
  2. Live in the moment. – Take just 20 minutes and put aside worrying about the bills or chores. Focus on who you are with. Listen.
  3. Initiate getting together with others and say yes when invited. – The bills can wait.
  4. Stretch outside your comfort zone. – Try something new or something you never thought you would enjoy.
  5. Relax about the details. – Impromptu times can be the most memorable. The details do not have to be in place to make something fun.

Work and worries will always be there — but the people might not be. Live in the moment and have fun!

Ecclesiastes 8:15 “So, I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life.”
