Chains of Love

The month-long camping adventure is still going and an adventure it is! Our kids decided to drive to meet us at this last camp site due to their work schedules (ages 15, 17, 19). It is a 5 ½ hour drive though Wyoming and South Dakota to our camp site. Cell service is intermittent but I thought it would be good for them. We are already up at our camp site waiting for the kids to arrive. Not surprisingly my husband, Dave gets a call 2.5 hours into their drive. A sensor is beeping warning that the oil is low. The sensors on this car are not always correct, we have had them checked before on other warnings. Dave talks them through checking their oil. Yep, that is definitely the problem.

The kids are in a town with a population of 150 – with no gas station. Dave explains that they have to find a gas station and they cannot drive far or they could blow the engine. We might have to call roadside assistance. The girls are calm and trying to figure out what to do when a man pulls over and asks if they are ok. They explain that they need oil. He looks to see if he has any. This kind person is a military vet who fought in the Iraq War. He drove right past them at first but claims he was listening to a podcast about positivity and it inspired him to turn back and help. He probably doesn’t realize the lessons he taught. They not only learned the importance of checking and adding oil to their car, but they learned that there is true goodness out there. What a great experience! There is pure evil being taught and pushed everywhere we look but this was nothing like the creeper in the movies and TV shows that we expect to stop and “help” us. Some people are still positive and caring. The kids were listening to Chain of Love by Clay Walker and Ed Seay and now they want to keep the chain going.

People today find it easy to complain or wish we could tell others what to do, but we rarely take action to help. Some people still do the right thing. May this story inspire you to make a difference and help restore the broken people around you.

Every morning he shows compassion in new ways! You are so very true and loyal! I say to myself, “The Lord is my God, and I trust him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him. He is good to those who look for him. Lamentations 3:23 -25.
