“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
When Life Knocks You Down
Life has a way of testing us. Some days we can handle the stress, the noise, and the surprises. Other days—well, they knock the wind right out of us. Whether it’s a toddler tantrum in the grocery store, a teenager’s sharp words, an unexpected bill, or a deep disappointment, these moments pile up until we feel stretched thin.
But resilience doesn’t mean you never break. It means you keep getting back up—with God by your side.
What Does Godly Resilience Look Like?
Resilience, in the world’s eyes, often looks like pushing through, hustling harder, or “faking it ’til you make it.” But in God’s kingdom, resilience looks different. It looks like surrender. It looks like leaning on Him when your own strength is gone. It looks like trust.
It’s the quiet strength of a mom who gets up again after a sleepless night.
It’s the hope of a woman choosing joy while waiting for an answered prayer.
It’s the decision to forgive, love, and try again—even when it hurts.
An Example of Resilience
Jesus showed us the ultimate resilience—not just by enduring the cross, but by continuing to love, serve, and obey His Father even when rejected, misunderstood, and physically exhausted. His resilience came from intimacy with the Father. Ours can too.
When we are rooted in Christ, we don’t bounce back alone—we rise with purpose, power, and peace.
Reflection
- What situation in your life is calling for resilience right now?
- Are you trying to power through on your own, or are you leaning into God’s strength?
- What truth about God do you need to cling to today?
A Simple Prayer
Dear God, I am tired. Some days, I feel like I can’t do this on my own—and that’s the truth. I need You. Remind me that I am not alone and that my strength is renewed as I wait on You. Help me to rise again, not in fear or frustration, but in faith. Thank You for being the God who holds me up. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
