Scripture:
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”
—Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)
There are times when we long for God to speak clearly—to send a burning bush, a billboard, or a booming voice from the sky. But more often, He whispers. Not because He wants to confuse us, but because He’s inviting us to lean in and trust Him.
I once asked God for purpose. I was knee-deep in the beautiful mess of motherhood—school pickups, laundry, sticky hands, and the occasional identity crisis. I prayed for something more, something meaningful beyond the daily routine.
And then came an invitation: Would I consider leading the youth group?
I laughed.
Surely God had the wrong person. I wasn’t trained. I wasn’t polished. I wasn’t “qualified.”
But after prayer (and some nudging from a wise friend), I realized: God doesn’t always choose the equipped—He equips the chosen.
What I thought was just a role turned into a calling that shaped my entire family. My kids helped with lessons and camps. My husband ran sound and showed up for events. We did ministry together. And in the process, God grew my faith in ways I never expected.
Reflection Questions:
- Have you ever felt like God was silent—only to realize later that He was speaking, just more softly than you expected?
- What invitations or opportunities have you laughed at that might actually be God’s gentle nudge?
- Is there an area in your life where God is calling you to step out in faith—even if it feels scary or unfamiliar?
Prayer:
Lord,
Sometimes I expect You to speak loudly, but You whisper. Teach me to lean in and listen. Help me not to dismiss the opportunities You place in front of me, even if they feel outside my comfort zone. Give me courage to say yes to You—and to trust that You’ll walk with me every step of the way. Let my obedience not just change me, but bless my family and the people You’ve placed in my life.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
