April Fools’ Day is the one day of the year when my kids go all out to prank me—but this time, I’m ready. I’ve gathered seven of the best, most lighthearted April Fools’ jokes to turn the tables and get them laughing! If you’re looking for simple, harmless pranks that will bring smiles (and maybe a few confused faces), give these a try!
1. The Never-Ending Bathroom Hunt
Put a sign on the downstairs bathroom that says “Out of Order—Please Use Upstairs.” Then, place the exact same sign on the upstairs bathroom: “Out of Order—Please Use Downstairs.” Watch as they go back and forth in confusion!
2. The Mysteriously Growing Feet
Stuff a bit of toilet paper into the toes of their shoes overnight. When they slip them on in the morning, they’ll be convinced that their feet grew a size (or two) overnight!
3. The Impossible Pennies
Superglue a few coins to the sidewalk or driveway and let your kids try to pry them loose. The determination on their faces will be priceless!
4. The Googly-Eyed Fridge
Stick googly eyes on everything in the fridge—milk cartons, fruit, eggs, condiment bottles. When your kids go to grab a snack, they’ll be greeted by a fridge full of staring food!
5. The Ghost Mouse
If your child uses a computer, plug in a wireless mouse and control it secretly from your desk. Move the cursor around randomly and watch as they try to figure out what’s going on!
6. The Broken Mouse Trick
For an easier tech prank, simply cover the sensor on the bottom of their computer mouse with a small piece of tape. They’ll think it’s broken until they realize they’ve ben fooled!
7. The Popping Milk Surprise
Drop some Pop Rocks into their morning glass of milk and watch their surprise as it starts popping in their mouth! A little breakfast-time magic!
Bonus: “Sunny Side Up” Yogurt and Peaches
Want to trick their taste buds too? Serve up this “egg-cellent” treat that looks like a sunny-side-up egg but is actually a sweet and healthy snack!
Ingredients:
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (per serving)
- 1/2 canned peach half (per serving)
Instructions:
- Spread the yogurt into a round shape on a plate.
- Place the peach half, flat side down, in the center of the yogurt.
- Serve and watch their reaction!
April Fools’ Day is all about fun and laughter, and these pranks are guaranteed to bring plenty of both! Just remember—your kids might be planning their revenge next year, so be prepared! 😉
